Helicopter Flights over Mahé, Ste Anne Marine Park and the Seychelles Coast

Scenic helicopter flights leave from a private base at Pointe Larue, a short drive from Seychelles International Airport on Mahé. Every flight is a private charter in an Airbus H120 for up to four adults. Routes run 15 minutes over north Mahé (Ste Anne Marine Park, Eden Island, Victoria, Beau Vallon), 30 minutes around the whole island, or 90 minutes adding Praslin and La Digue. Check in 30 minutes before take-off. Transfers to the base cost extra.

How the flight works

  1. 1

    Get to the helipad

Make your own way to the base at Pointe Larue or to the helipad you agreed on. Transfers are not included, but the operator can arrange one through a third-party company if you ask.

  2. 2

Check in and wait in the lounge

Arrive 30 minutes before departure. The lounge has free cold drinks and Wi-Fi while you wait.

  3. 3

    Weigh-in

Passengers and luggage may be weighed before boarding. The weight allowance depends on destination, distance and weather, so bring as little luggage as possible.

  4. 4

    Fly the route

On the north Mahé route you pass the airport, Ste Anne Marine Park, Eden Island, Victoria, Beau Vallon and Morne Seychellois National Park. Reviewers mention the pilot talking about the islands, with views of reefs, mountains and beaches.

  5. 5

    Land back at the start

Flights normally finish where they began, at the Pointe Larue base or your departure helipad.

Before you book

What happens if the weather is bad?

The pilot in command makes the final decision on whether the flight goes ahead. Rebooking and refund terms could not be confirmed, so check them with the operator when you book.

Will we share the helicopter with other people?

No. Every scenic flight is a private charter priced per helicopter, and no other passengers are added.

How many people fit, and are there weight limits?

The Airbus H120 takes up to four adults. Strict weight limits cover passengers and luggage together. If a booking goes over the limit, a second helicopter has to be chartered at your cost.

Can children fly?

One review describes a flight booked as a surprise for a 5-year-old. Minimum age, infant, pregnancy and mobility policies could not be confirmed, so ask the operator before booking.

Can we leave from our hotel or from Praslin?

Flights can leave from other licensed helipads on Mahé or from selected hotels, which can change the price, and reviewers describe pick-ups on Praslin. Some resorts, including Raffles, Six Senses Zil Pasyon, Frégate Island and Denis Island, handle helicopter bookings themselves.

What should I bring?

Keep luggage to a minimum because of the weight limits, and bring a camera. Dark clothing reduces reflections when you shoot through the windows. Pilots speak English and French.
